RULES, are important on any site and in many situations. rather than writing one thousand and one various rules about various subjects, i've decided to condense them into three nice little paragraphs stating what we here at backstage madness like, and do not like. I hope you will actually read these, it's awfully rude not too but it's not like I can check up on you. all I ask is that you at least skim them please. it would be really wonderful if you did :]
CHARACTERS & POSTING to start, there is no limit on how many characters you can have. as long as you can keep up with them all and keep them all active, you can have a million if you want. but they must all remain active. if I see even one of them is becoming increasingly inactive, I will take the appropriate actions to warn you about it. however there is a catch. if you intend on making more than one character you must have an even ratio between boys and girls. for example for every girl you make, your next character must be a boy. secondly when it comes to making multiple characters, no one person can have more than one canon. if you are going to have a canon, and then want to make a second character then it must be your own origional character, and from that point on you can have no other canons. this is not to be harsh or selfish, it is just a way of giving everyone an equal oppurtunity in getting in on canon plots and such.
when registering, please register with your own alias, which must simply be one name such as my alias is kate. if I see anything like sexychick212 or something, it makes the forum messy. a simple name will suffice. when you have registered, you must then change your name to your characters first middle and last name. it should be written in small case. no capitals.
when it comes to posting, this is when we get strict. first of all, this is a literatre to advanced site. this means that posts should be a minimum of 500 words. this isn't a lot. really its about three good sized paragraphs. I understand that not all of you are going to be capable of writing 1000 to 1500 words. that sort thing comes from having written for years on these sites, and it's something that can be put down to experience. but really, we can all manage at least 500 words. why not try description more or something? it helps word count and makes rping a lot more satisfactory. secondly, we don't want perfect characters. the answer to anyone who even applies with a character who does everything right, has a perfect life, looks perfect and is perfectly nice in terms of personality in all will be a solid; no. simple as. everyone has flaws, and your character is no exception. no godmodding. it's never excused on this site. and always, always use proper spelling/punctuation/grammar. the spell checker is there for a reason. thanks.
GRAPHICS & SIGNATURES we don't want to stop you using graphics on thread headings, aim headings, or in signatures, but the pretty basic rule is don't stretch the board with images that are too big. if you even think about using an image that is pornographic or could be considered pornographic, it will be taken down and you will assigned some professional help in the form of a phsychiatrist since you are obviously mental for using an image like that on a friendly site like ours. i don't care if 90% of the web is porn. we are the other 10% here. we accept that not everyone has graphics programs like photoshop or gimp, so if you do need a graphic or a signature please request it via pm to kate the admin, or any other specified graphic creator. if you request in the cbox, we'll set the dogs on you. because thats annoying and makes the beautiful cbox look ugly.
GENERAL CONDUCT & ACTIVITY the main rule; respect everyone. if I see or hear of any flaming on this site at all, you will be contacted via pm, or email. if you continue to flame and ignore the warning, you will be immediatly removed from this forum and banned. I don't care if its a one off flaming. it won't be tolerated at all. any sort of disrespect makes the forum an unhappy place to be. respect has so many different meanings. not only does it mean being polite to other members, it also means not pestering other people or admins to reply to threads or check applications. they will all be done in due course, and you cant expect people to devote their lives to your thread. pestering gets you nowhere. really it does. if you don't get the face claim you wanted or a canon you wanted, don't go around cussing people out who did. because thats immature and will not be tolerated.
and lastly, have fun. enjoy yourself and stay active. I've seen so many good sites die, and thats sad after all the hard work that gets put into them. so lets not let that happen to this site. stay active. and have a good time.
