Her dark hair accentuates her green eyes and pale skin. She is slim and has a petite frame. She has been picked out to be a model on more than one occasion; of course she didn't take up the offer. Working in the fashion industry means she knows exactly what the models go through to stay a size zero. Ruby loves fashion and tends to follow her own trend and incorporate “fads” that come and go. She loves to experiment with colours and patterns as long as its tasteful, for example, teaming her beloved black skinny jeans with a crème black jewel embellished baby doll top. Her petite frame means she can fit pretty much every style of clothing that there is, except for maybe maxi dresses, they tend to make her frame look a little swamped. Ruby likes to take care of her skin and always exfoliates and moisturises, without this she believes her skin wouldn’t glow the way it does. Make up is another must for any girl, although she tends to go pretty neutral in the day with a tinted moisturiser and mascara. The night tends to bring out a sexier side of ruby, where she prefers smoky eyes and neutral lips. Although she enjoys trawling through vintage shops for one of a kind pieces, she is a label lover. Her favourites include; BCBG Max Azria, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg & Coach. Working in the fashion industry means she gets most of her accessories and key pieces for free.
- - - - loves, Starbucks, sun rises in the morning, getting a new copy of vogue through the post monthly, black patent accessories, pashminas, fitted blazors, being in love, kisses, cuddles, skittles, did I mention starbucks? London at night, art galleries, writing in her journal, cutting out pictures from magazines, boys in London, watching black and white movies, Paris and Europe in general, sushi, lie ins, weekends, music, live music and holidays. - - - - loathes, Rainy days, people that are rude for no apparent reason, her mum, being alone in her apartment at night, when she gets a starbucks and its cold, people who seem to dress like they don’t own a mirror, boys who treat girls like shit, burnt food, fast food, when she runs out of food, red bull, fashions repeating themselves too often, girls who are bitches, crime books, people magazine, people who think they know fashion, people who wear labels head to toe, wearing high heels too often, cooking too often, did I mention red bull? - - - - strenghts & weaknesses, Ruby is someone who prides herself on trying her hardest at everything she does; regardless of if it was something she had done before or not. Her work ethic was a strong point, when Rubes started out in the fashion industry although she loved the clothes she had no idea about using a mutli line phone line, using a blackberry even using a photocopier, she managed to pick the skills up quickly and because of this enthusiasm she had worked her way up the fashion ladder. Another strength of Ruby was her ability to be independent, yes, she wanted to fall in love and have her happy ending complete with the white picket fence and perfectly polished husband and kids but she wasn’t going to sit around and wait for them to come knocking. Her parents may have brought her up in a certain amount of luxury, but she wasn’t immune to cooking, cleaning and looking after herself, infact she loved the sense of independence and that was something that no man could ever take away from her, well at least not for now. The last strength that Ruby has is the ability to befriend almost anyone, not in a bad way; she has plenty of friends in the work place and outside of it. It may have something to do with the fact her parents always made her go to parties and being around adults for most of her life made talking to pretty much anyone really easy. A girl could never have too many friends; it always meant she had someone to talk to. Nobody’s perfect even Rubes know that, she never claimed to be, but it had to be said that she didn’t like people who pointed out her weaknesses. Although in her list of strengths making friends was pretty high actually being able to trust people would definitely be in her list of weaknesses. It all went back to when she was a child, she has always had a close relationship with her father but the same cannot be said about her mother. She always wanted to remain the “head” of the house and even her daughter wouldn’t get in her way. It’s fair to say that its effected Ruby ever since, she has a hard time really letting people know what she is like behind the “poker face”. The next weakness on the list for Ruby would be her inability to fall in love; she had only had one serious boyfriend before she moved to London. They were sweethearts and pretty much grew up together, not to mention they were really happy but this was before he cheated on her with her cousin and got her pregnant. Rubes has had a problem trusting a man ever since then.
- - - - hometown, Andover, Hampshire, UK. - - - - family, Mother - Diana Louise Carter. Father - Lloyd Mark Carter - - - - pets, n/a - - - - overall history, BIRTH AND EARLY LIFE: Ruby Jaymes Carter was born on June 12th 1987 to prospective parents Diana Louise Carter and her husband Lloyd Mark Carter. Diana was a former model who had turned into a stay at home housewife, the kind of person who organised garden parties and ran the town from her blackberry using her perfectly manicured, moisturized index finger. Lloyd was really the breadwinner of the family; he had gone to college and studied finance, becoming hedge fund manager for HSBC. He was making plenty of money to look after his daughter and wife. Diana and Lloyd first met in the Ritz, a London hotel that is known for its decadence. They were complete opposites. Lloyd was from a blue blood family, his father was actually a duke and his mother worked for charity. Whereas Diana was from Hackney in London. Her upbringing had been a little less privileged, as they say, opposites attract and it wasn’t long until they were married and set up house in Chelsea, one of the most exquisite and exclusive places to live in London. It was 4 years later that Ruby arrived. As soon as she was born she was the apple of her father eye, not so much her mothers. She sometimes resented Ruby and often shunned her onto the nanny. A year had passed and Ruby was now one. She was able to walk guided and already started to turn heads wherever she went. As soon as she was old enough to be enrolled in school her mother shipped her off to St. Catherine’s where she began to make friends with other children. It was a privately school that cost some people’s annual wages to go to and gave Ruby a pristine set of manners.
ADOLESCENCE AND SCHOOL: It was 10 years later and Ruby was finishing her time at St. Catherine’s. Lloyd and Diana were still married and surprisingly happy. Ruby wasn’t making any progress in a relationship with her mother, infact it was getting worst, the older she was getting the more she was resenting her. What was the point of putting effort in when she didn’t care? The next step in Ruby’s education was LSFG (Londons school for girls) It was the only place that a family with a very high wealth would send their child. It excelled both academically and in sport which made it the perfect environment for young ladies to develop and find their own talents. Ruby particularly liked art, it gave her a chance to express herself in a way that she didn’t really do at home. The weekends were pretty much spent with friends as the years passed she was allowed to go shopping in London especially Oxford Street and this was where her passion and love affair with fashion actually started to happen. Just like art, it let Ruby express her self opinion and how she wanted the world to see her, regardless of if they accepted her or not. Time had started to fly by and before she knew it Ruby was graduating. She got the highest grade point in her class. Both Lloyd and Diana showed up to see her collect her diploma. Ruby was very close with her father but still not with her mother.
ILLNESS AND BEYOND. It was shortly after her graduation that Lloyd became ill with pancreatic cancer, it was terminal and after a short but intense fight he sadly passed away 2 days before her 18th Birthday. It was this event that made Ruby realise she wanted to pursue her love for fashion and art on her own terms and away from her mother. Lloyd had left her a substantial nest egg which she used to purchase a flat in downtown London, Notting Hill to be precise. It was one of the most artistic places to be in London and it was an easy commute to the bigger places. Rubes applied for positions in all the major magazines and was close on giving up when she got her internship at Glamour, One of the best known and well loved magazines of all. Its been 3 years since she got the internship and has now made it to deputy stylist, meaning she helps to style the looks for the magazine. Life is pretty perfect for now, she’s not in love but she has grown into a strong and independent woman who works hard and plays harder.
